Dean Phillips

Dean Phillips was a professional jockey, riding in many races from the age of 12.

Dean is renowned and respected for his horsemanship skills in particular training young horses.

He is a New Zealand Racing Approved Employer and has trained many apprentices.

As part of our continuing commitment to provide and pass on life rewarding skills, he regularly teaches horsemanship skills – both on and off the ground.

Dean often gives demonstrations with horses, including educating young horses, shoeing, and equine dentistry.

Dean can often be seen at our event days helping the beginner riders in their first competition over the jumps!

Ellé Phillips

Our daughter Ellé Phillips (23 years old), has a very exciting season ahead, with training and bringing on a team of horses.

Her aims are to compete in both young rider and horse grand prix classes this coming season, along with the age series classes in which she’s bringing up horses through the grades. Ellé moved on from very successful seasons on ponies, finishing 2nd in Pony of the Year 2012 on Fruitalishas, and 2nd in North Island Pony Grand Prix on Guess Once More, and numerous other wins and placings.

Her goal is to ride for New Zealand, and she is currently seeking additional support for the up and coming season to allow her to get exposure at top competitions in New Zealand and abroad.

Jay Phillips

Our son Jay Phillips at 20 years is a keen horseman and the speed devil of the family.

He has a particular fondness for riding all sizes of ponies and horses and can be often called upon to do bare back jumping demonstrations!

As experienced rider, Jay has taken over, his father's role of riding all our "breakers" and young horses giving them sound education from the ground up. Jay is also gaining valuable experience working under race horse trainers in Cambridge.

Aged 13 Jay was the main actor for Walt Disney "What a life".

Jay assists in many of the horse activities that we run and runs the "Boy's Only" riding lessons.

Both Ellé and Jay will be bringing out several young horses, with the aim of competing in the Young Horse Show Jumping series classes.
