Ellé Phillips: Align your self with success, success breeds success
About Ellé Phillips
Ellé was born and bred into the world of horses. With her father Dean a farrier, jockey and trainer, and mother Lorraine a rider and coach, there was only one possible career for Ellé.
Based in the Waikato region of New Zealand, Ellé competes a large team of horses throughout the country, most of which she has produced herself. When not competing or training, Ellé helps her mother Lorraine mentor and instruct the many young riders who educate themselves and their horses through the Phillips Equine Riding Centre.
Aged 21, Ellé is enormously talented and focused, coupled with an outstanding work ethic and the drive to win.
Ellé says “Horses bring focus and determination; they challenge you every day. With a horse comes passion, compassion, confidence and partnership. I want to use these every day to show striving athletes that whatever background you come from, you can make it to the top.”
Elle's goal is to ride for New Zealand, and she is currently hoping to align herself with brands and people with the same high standards as hers; to help support her progress in the up and coming season, and enable her to help others achieve positive experiences at top competitions in New Zealand and abroad.
Ellé strives to be the "best of the best" and compete wearing the Silver Fern.
Improving herself is extremely important, as is inspiring other New Zealanders to be the best.
Passionate about every aspect of horses, Ellé and her close-knit family rode together throughout herchildhood. She was given her first pony Twinkle when she was four years old, then Biggles at seven years old. As Ellé grew up and her dedication to riding began, the family branched out and began Phillips Equine in Matangi, Hamilton, New Zealand. More than a decade later, Biggles remains a much-loved part of the equestrian family.
Ellé Phillips Show Jumping manages an active stable of horses which are competitive across all levels of the sport. From her upcoming eight year old; Raibeart Bruis and seven year old; Elysium GNZ, to promising young horses and high quality sale prospects. The team works together for success; specialising in training, competing and coaching.
Elle officially started show jumping aged 14 on her 13.2hh pony, Tucker Tuxedo. Together they won many 1.10m, Derbys and 1* Grand Prix classes, including Horse Of the Year Pony 1.10m championship. Her next two ponies were educated at home, and Ellé schooled them up to Grand Prix level, finishing 2nd in Pony of the Year 2012 on Fruitalishas, and 2nd in North Island Pony Grand Prix on Guess Once More, with numerous other wins and placings
Ellé's father, Dean gave Ellé her first horse. A lovely thoroughbred mare, Little Miss Pete took her through to Junior riders and riding at Pony Club Timberlands Team Event (gaining 6th place individually) at their first ever "eventing competition".
After selling her onto to eventer Sophie Wilkinson, Elle continued to school and bring on more horses – predominantly Dad's retired racehorses!
An exciting season is now ahead now with her oldest horse competing now eight years old – Horse Grand Prix here we come!
